Free Fall Data Protection
(Optional)
The Free Fall Data Protection sensor and HDD Protect Utility will help protect your
hard disk drive, in the event that the computer is accidentally dropped, by parking
the HDD
read/write heads away from the platter to avoid scratching the surface of
the hard disk. If you want to install Free Fall Data Protection then follow the pro-
cedure outlined on the following pages to install the driver, and then configure the
sensitivity from the application.
Free Fall Protection Driver Installation
1. Insert the Device Drivers & Uti User’s Manual disc into an attached
DVD drive.
2. Click Option Drivers (button).
3. Click 4.Install Free fall Protection > Yes .
4. Click Next > Next .
5. Click Install .
6. Click Finish .
7. Click Yes to restart the computer.


Saving States
Note that you can adjust
the sensitivity level of the
HDD Protect Utility by
means of the slider at the
bottom of the screen,
however it will take a few
seconds for adjustments
to come into effect.
If the system resumes
from a Sleep/Hibernate
power-saving state, it
will also take a few sec-
onds for the system to
implement HDD protec-
tion.
