4.2.1. Terminal assignments for power and data connectors
IMPORTANT
Always use outdoor-rated, RF-shielded Ethernet cables when
connecting the Power and LAN ports of a Cisco hardware
device to external hardware.
RJ45 Ethernet
IMPORTANT
Always use outdoor-rated, RF-shielded Ethernet cables, and
RF-shielded RJ45 male connectors (a typical shielded
connector can be seen in the image below).
The terminal assignments for male RJ45 connectors are as shown in the
image below. With the connector in this orientation, the terminals are
numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 from right to left.
