Glossary 

Hemoglobin

: The protein in red blood cells that transports oxygen from the lungs throughout 

the body and carbon dioxide from the tissues back to the lungs.  

Oxygen Saturation

: The percentage of hemoglobin in the blood that is bound to oxygen.
