Spread/Feed Function Check
Large Piece Check
Use a sheet or similar piece of flatwork to
test the spreader/feeder. Press a STATION
button to select a program.
Place the long edge of a sheet on one of
the two station tables watch for the fol-
lowing:
The sheet is clamped to the station car-
riage and is carried upward to the inlet
transfer clamp.
The inlet transfer clamp, located at
the front center of the unit clamps
and transports the sheet to the clutch
rollers.
The clutch rollers find the corners of
the sheet.
The second transfer clamp then grasps
the corners and transfers them back
toward the spreader clamps.
The spreader clamps and the lower
spreader belts spread the sheet.
The spreader clamps release the corners
of the sheet as the air pulse pushes the
sheets leading edge under the air foil
and onto the discharge conveyor.
The discharge conveyor transports the
sheet to the inlet of the ironer.
Check the operation of the other station
by repeating Steps 1 and 2.

Small Piece Check
Press the BYPASS button on the CHI
panel. Its light will illuminate.
The front bypass conveyor should raise
for small piece feeding.
Feed a few pieces and make sure they
transport smoothly through the spreader/
feeder and onto the ironer inlet ribbons.
Press the BYPASS button again.
Its light should go out and the front by-
pass conveyor should lower to its original
position.
Press the red STOP button (Figure 2-28,
D)
Completion
Turn OFF the compressed air supply to
the unit.
Turn power OFF at the main disconnect
switch. The Start/Stop buttons lamp and
the CHI panel display will go out.
Each photosensor on the unit is physically
aligned and sensitivity adjusted for test-
ing purposes before shipment. However,
different environments require alignment
and sensitivity adjustments during instal-
lation to ensure reliable operation of the
sensors.
If any sensor problems, such as missed
pieces of flatwork or false signals, are
detected during testing, adjustment is
necessary. For more information, refer
to the
REPAIR
chapter,
Sensors
section
and the appropriate sensor adjustment
procedure.
