Adjusting Guide Rail Proximity Sensors
In this case, the sensor is threaded directly into
the guide rail and must be disconnected from its
wiring before adjustment.
Required Tools
1/2”, 11/16” wrenches, 1 mm shim,
knife/scissors, plastic wire ties
Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
Turn power OFF at the main disconnect
switch.
Locate the proximity sensor to be ad-
justed.

CAUTION
Adjust the position of
the proximity sensor very
carefully. If it is struck, the
sensor must be replaced.
As appropriate:
If the sensor is the screw connect type,
unscrew the sensor from its connector
plug (Figure 7-60, A).
If the sensor is the “pigtail” type, dis-
connect its white connector (Figure 7-
61, A). Cut plastic wire ties or remove
any screws which are helping to secure
the pigtail. It must be free to move.
Loosen the lock nut which secures the sen-
sor in position (Figure 7-60, B, 7-61, B).
Screw the proximity sensor in its rail
threads to within 1 mm of its target surface
(Figure 7-62). Use the shim for accuracy.
Note that in the case of the pigtail-type,
the entire tail must be free to move with
the sensor.
Tighten the lock nuts loosened in Step 4.
Move the target slowly back and forth to
make sure no contact with made with the
proximity sensor.
Reverse Step 3, using wire ties on a pigtail
connection as necessary to secure the wir-
ing in place.
Start the unit and process several pieces of
flatwork to make sure the proximity sensor
is working correctly.
