If your power steering fluid level is low, this can cause
the brake or service brake soon warning lights to
come on. In addition, the steering effort and emergency
brake distance could increase.
If either light remains on after you have added power
steering fluid to the proper level, then shut off the engine
for 10 seconds. This should reset the brake warning
lights. If one or both lights stay on though, see
“Hydraulic Brake System Warning Lights” under Brake
System Warning Light on page 3-31 for more
information.
What to Use
To determine what kind of fluid to use, see Part C:
Recommended Fluids and Lubricants on page 6-29.
Notice: When adding power steering fluid or
making a complete fluid change, always use the
proper fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid can
cause leaks and damage hoses and seals.
Windshield Washer Fluid
What to Use
When you need windshield washer fluid, be sure to read
the manufacturer’s instructions before use. If you will
be operating your vehicle in an area where the
temperature may fall below freezing, use a fluid that has
sufficient protection against freezing.
Adding Washer Fluid
Your vehicle has a low
washer fluid light that lets
you know when to add
washer fluid.
