1.7.3 Prime the fuel system
Before starting the procedure
IMPORTANT:
Do not turn the engine for more than 30 seconds. Let the starter motor cool for two minutes
before starting again. Turbocharger damage can result if the engine rpm is not kept low until the oil gauge
display verifies oil pressure is sufficient.
IMPORTANT:
Do not loosen the fuel lines at the fuel manifold. The fittings can be damaged and/or a loss
of priming pressure can occur when the fuel lines are loosened.
Procedure
1.
Make sure there is fuel in the tank. Make
sure the fuel tank supply valve (1) is open.
Loosen the plug (2) to let air release from the
fuel lines. Make sure the plug is open
enough or priming the pump will not work.

2.
Operate the plunger (1) until a strong
pressure is felt, and the fuel is leaking out of
the plug. This procedure requires
considerable strokes.
3.
Tighten the plug (2).
4.
Press down the plunger six more times to
build fuel pressure.
5.
Start the engine. If the engine does not start,
try procedure again. If the engine runs rough,
run the engine at low idle speed until the
engine runs smoothly.
