1.7 Fuel system
WARNING:
Add fuel only in an area that has a free movement of fresh air and no open flames or sparks.
Never smoke when adding fuel.
IMPORTANT:
When servicing the fuel system, the work area and all parts must be completely clean.
IMPORTANT:
Even small amounts of DEF in diesel fuel will cause serious fuel system failure. If there is
any question about DEF contamination in the fuel, do not start the engine before emptying and cleaning
the fuel tank.
Fuel with Biodiesel mixture of more than 5 percent is not approved at the time this material is printed.
When adding fuel to the machine, keep the fuel tank cap clean. See the Engine Operation and
Maintenance Manual for fuel additives, and complete specifications.

1.7.2 Fuel water separator
Check for water in the water separator bowl (1).
Move the drain hose (2) on the water separator
bowl into a suitable container.
The water separator bowl is located below the fuel
filter (3). Open the drain by 1/2 turn (4).
If the filter base contains a vent, use a suitable tool
to open the vent. This allows the water to drain
into a suitable container.
When the water is drained, close the vent. Close
the drain, and move the drain hose back to the
original position.
