18. Once the pressure device is cleaned, lower it, ensuring that it is aligned on the track.
19. Use the “+/-” keys to highlight “APM Home.”
20. Press the ENTER key. The pressure head will raise and return to the home position.
21. Check the cavity for debris.
22. Return the back cover of the pressure device.
23. Return the attenuator to the locked position.
24. If applicable, install the Discover module into its original position under the Explorer and verify the attenuator/adapter
positions as necessary.
Note:
Refer to the Explorer manual for instructions.
Clean ActiVent Using Water
1. Remove the attenuator and check the cavity for debris. Replace the attenuator.
2. Place approximately 2 mL water into a 4 mL vial or 5 mL into a 10 mL vial and cap all vials.
3. Place the reaction vial into the SP-D Clinical system.
4. Program a venting method, as described below
Temperature: above the water boiling point (bpt +100 C)
Hold Time: 5:00
Pressure 400 PSI
Power: 150W (general starting point)
Stirring:
High
Pressure SP: 150 PSI
Times at SP: 10
Delta Pressure: 50 PSI
5. Perform the venting method, allowing the water to be vented through the pressure device and clean the pressure
head.
6. Once complete, stop the reaction and remove the vial once it is completely cooled.
Note:
If the temperature decreases suddenly, stop the reaction and repeat with a lower Pressure SP.
7. Remove the attenuator and rinse it to remove any liquid or loose material, then dry it completely.
8. Repeat the above instructions as necessary until the ActiVent is completely clean.
Stirring Verification
The stirring option consists of an electromagnetic plate located below the floor of the microwave cavity. “Stirring” occurs
when the magnetic field couples with a stir bar in the vessel.
Items Required for Stirring Verification:
Attenuator
Stir bar appropriate for vessel size
Reaction
vessel
1. Depending on the vessel being used, install the appropriate attenuator.
2. Place an empty vessel or round bottom flask with a stir bar into the attenuator.
Note:
Do not place a cap on the vessel.
