Appendix B: Load Cell Installation 

In order to avoid load cell damage, proper installation is required. Follow these steps when 
installing for the first time or changing load cells: 

1.  Identify the active end of the load cell (see below image). This is the 

MEASURING END

 

of the load cell which results in a force reading. This end is covered with a small plate not 
continuous with the rest of the load cell body. 

 

 

 

2.  Attach the appropriate thumbnut/coupling to the 

NON-MEASURING END

 of the load cell 

(M5 or M3 depending on the load cell).
