SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

Installation and servicing of air-conditioning equipment can

be hazardous due to system pressure and electrical compo-
nents. Only trained and qualified service personnel should
install, repair, or service air-conditioning equipment.

Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance func-

tions of cleaning coils and filters and replacing filters. All other
operations should be performed by trained service personnel.
When working on air-conditioning equipment, observe precau-
tions in the literature, tags and labels attached to the unit, and
other safety precautions that may apply.

Follow all safety codes. Wear safety glasses and work

gloves. Use quenching cloth for unbrazing operations. Have
fire extinguishers available for all brazing operations.

GENERAL

The accessory two-position damper is designed for use on

units without economizers.

The two-position damper accessory allows the unit to

control the outside-air dampers by opening the dampers
whenever the indoor fan is operating and closing the dampers
when the indoor fan is off. There is no modulation associated
with the two-position damper assembly.

PACKAGE CONTENTS

INSTALLATION

To install the two-position damper, perform the following:

1. Make sure power supply is turned off and lockout tag is

installed.

2. Unscrew and remove the front cover panel on the return

end of the unit to expose the return section of the unit. See
Fig. 1. Discard panel and save screws.

3. Install the bottom panel over the return air compartment.

Use screws saved from Step 2. See Fig. 1.

4. Connect the plug from the two-position damper actuator

to the 6-pin economizer/two-position damper plug in the
return air compartment of the unit. See Fig. 1 and 2.

5. Adjust two-position damper to desired setting. Two-

position damper performance is shown in Fig. 3 and 4. To
adjust damper, locate the adjustable stop on the actuator.
Loosen but do not remove the screw. Align pointer with
desired setting based on the return duct static pressure and
airflow. Tighten screw.

6. Install the top panel assembly over the top section of the

return air compartment. The top panel assembly should
overlap the bottom panel installed in Step 3. Use screws
provided. See Fig. 1.

7. Remove lockout tag and restore power to unit.

IMPORTANT: Read these instructions completely before
attempting to install the accessory two-position damper.
