Assigning console privileges to a user
The console privileges are mutually exclusive, with the exception of Basic
Pharmacy Privileges, which allows you to log on. If any of the other console
privileges are given to you, Basic Pharmacy Privileges is automatically given.
The following table provides examples of users and some of the console
privileges that they might need:
To assign the privileges
1. Click the
Console Privileges
tab.
2. Select the applicable options:

Basic Pharmacy Privileges
—Allows you to access the Inventory menu,
assign medications to pockets that are not granted through medication
privileges, add and modify formulary items, and access reports and the
archival feature.
Enable This Privilege

Basic Pharmacy Privileges
Most pharmacy users.
User Entry
One pharmacist on each shift to assure 24-hour coverage.
Pharmacy Supervisor
A user who manages the Pyxis MedStation system clinical
information including formulary, kits, pharmacy configuration,
clinical data categories, security groups, discrepancy
documentation reasons, override groups (profile mode only),
and formulary classifications.
System Administrator
A user who is authorized to:
• Add, modify, and delete devices (including changing the
drawer style and number of pockets for a matrix drawer).
• Place a station in or out of service.
• Alter station-to-console communications.
• Transplant data.
