4.2.2
If the controller is too busy he will reply 'standby'. This means that the driver should
wait until the controller calls back. The driver shall
not
proceed until permission is
given.
4.2.3
When there is conflicting traffic the controller may reply 'hold position'. This means
that the driver shall not proceed until the controller calls back with permission. All
other replies should contain a clearly defined point to which the driver may proceed;
this may or may not be the intended destination. If it is not the intended destination
drivers must stop at this point and further permission shall be requested.
NOTE:
The vehicle has only been cleared as far as the holding position to await
runway crossing clearance and permission to proceed to hangar 3.
4.2.4
The controller/FISO may include the instruction 'hold short' to reinforce the point
beyond which the vehicle may not proceed.
4.2.5
Permission to proceed on the apron may include instructions to ensure safe
operations.
