The stack tray paper height sensor (PS9) also detects foreign matter below the tray. During job execution, if paper surface
detection fails seven consecutive times when the stack tray is lowered after paper is delivered from the processing tray, the
finisher judges that there is foreign matter.
When foreign matter is detected, the finisher sends 1C40 (error avoidance jam; tray shift motor error) to the host machine. The
host machine LUI displays a foreign matter check message. If foreign matter is detected again within a given time period, an error
code (E540-8002) will be displayed.
Stack Tray Paper Full Detection
The stack tray paper full state is detected by the stack tray paper height sensor (PS9) and stack tray lower limit sensor (PS10).
Stack Tray
Paper Height Sensor (PS9)
Stack Tray
Lower Limit Sensor (PS10)
ON
The stack tray paper full state is detected in the following conditions.
• At power ON, if both the stack tray paper height sensor (PS9) and stack tray lower limit1 sensor (PS10) are on.
• When the stack tray moves down by the specified amount after paper is delivered to the stack tray, the stack tray lower limit
sensor (PS10) turns on.
• When a stack height higher than the height equivalent to 500 small-size sheets is detected.
• When the internal counter*1 detects that 30 or more copies of stapled or staple-free stapled paper stacks have been delivered.
• When the internal counter*1 detects that 250 or more large-size sheets have been delivered.
• When the internal counter*1 detects that 250 or more sheets that include a mixture of small-size and large-size sheets have
been delivered.
• When the paper stack on the stack tray is removed.
• When the power is turned off and then back on.
*1: The internal counter's sheet count and copy count are cleared in the following situations.
• When the paper stack on the stack tray is removed.
• When the power is turned off and then back on.
