Before installing the software, make sure your computer is correctly running
one of the following versions of Windows. For details, refer to the Instructions.
• Windows 98SE
• Windows Me
• Windows NT4.0 Workstation SP6
• Windows 2000 Professional SP4 or above
• Windows XP Home Edition SP2 or above
• Windows XP Professional SP2 or above

Do not connect the scanner to the computer before installing the software.
In Windows environments other than Windows NT4.0, if you connect the
scanner and turn it ON before you install the software, a wizard screen will
appear. If this wizard appears, click [Cancel] to exit the wizard, and then turn
the scanner OFF.

Close all other applications before installing the software.

Read the software license agreement, and click
[Yes] if you consent to its conditions.
Installation of the scanner driver starts.
This operation installs both the scanner driver
and the Job Tool.

Click [Finish] to complete the installation.
Next, the installation wizard for CapturePerfect
3.0 appears.

Click [Next].
9.
Read the software license agreement, and click
[Yes] if you consent to its conditions.
10.
Check the destination folder for the installation,
and click [Next].
Installation of CapturePerfect 3.0 starts.
11.
Click [Finish] to complete the installation of
CapturePerfect 3.0.

When all installations are complete, the
installation completed screen appears.
Click [Exit] to exit the installer. Click [Back] to
return to the menu screen.

This Easy Start Guide describes the procedure for setting up the scanner for use. Follow the
procedures outlined in this Easy Start Guide to set up the scanner. Details on using the
scanner are described in the Instructions packaged with the scanner. Before you start using
the scanner, make sure to thoroughly read the Instructions.
Checking the Package Contents
When you unpack your scanner, make sure all of the following accessories are included.
If any of the items listed below are missing or damaged, contact your local authorized Canon
dealer or service representative.

Installing the Software
Install the software before connecting the scanner to the computer.

The scanner weighs about 33.6 kg (74 lb.). Lifting the scanner by yourself may
cause you to drop it, pinch your hand beneath it, or suffer a serious injury.
When moving the scanner, make sure to be very careful and to lift it with two
people, one at each end.

For Users of Cardiac Pacemakers
The scanner emits a weak magnetic field. If you use a cardiac pacemaker and
experience any abnormal sensations, move away from the scanner and
consult your doctor.

Checking the Transport Screw
When shipped from the factory, the optical unit on the scanner is locked in
place with a screw to avoid damage due to shaking during transport. Before
turning on the scanner, make sure the transport screw has been removed.
Turning the power on while the transport screw is in place can damage the
scanner.

Log on to Windows.
Be sure to log on with Administrator privileges
when logging on to Windows NT/2000/XP.
2.
Insert the DR-7080C Setup Disc into the
computer’s CD-ROM drive.
The setup wizard automatically starts up when
you insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM
drive. If the setup wizard does not start up, run
the setup.exe application on the CD-ROM.
The setup menu consists of the following screens:

* Installs the scanner driver and
CapturePerfect.
Typical Installation
Read Manuals
Custom Installation
* Allows you to select the scanner driver
and/or CapturePerfect for installation.
* Opens the electronic files of the manuals
supplied with the scanner and the
CapturePerfect 3.0 Operation Guide.
3.
Click [Typical Installation].
[Typical Installation] installs all of the software.
If you want to select which parts of the
software to install, click [Custom Installation].
4.
Click [Install].
All of the currently displayed software is
installed. To install only selected software,
click [Back] and select [Custom Installation].
5.
Click [Next].
Note
When software installation is complete, icons for each program are registered in
the programs menu of Windows.
