synchronous
The transmission of data between a transmitting and a receiving device
occurs as a series of zeros and ones. For the data to be "read" correctly,
the receiving device must begin reading at the proper point in the
series. In synchronous communication, this coordination is
accomplished by synchronizing the transmitting and receiving devices to
a common clock signal (see Asynchronous
(p.
425
)
).
system time
When time functions are run outside the Scan() / NextScan construct,
the time registered by the instruction will be based on the system clock,
which has a 10 ‐ ms resolution. See scan time
(p.

).
task
1) Grouping of CRBasic program instructions by the CR800. Tasks
include measurement, SDM, and processing. Tasks are prioritized by a
CR800 operating in pipeline mode. 2) A user ‐ customized function
defined through LoggerNet Task Master .
TCP/IP
Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol.
Telnet
A software utility that attempts to contact and interrogate another
specific device in a network.
constant
A terminal is the point at which a single wire connects to a wiring panel
or connector. Terminals are usually secured with small screw ‐ or spring ‐
loaded clamps. See connector
