B.3 Control Port Configurations and Sensor Wiring
Standard RS232 logic levels range from 3 to 25 volts and -3 to
-25 volts. The maximum and minimum inputs to CR10X
control ports are 5 and 0 volts, respectively.
Inputs
exceeding these limits may damage the
CR10X
. Figure 1
shows a circuit which may be used to limit voltage levels to
between 0 and 5 volts. Each input (data and handshake) that
is out of the 0 to 5 volt range requires one of these circuits, or
equivalent.

Table B-2 lists all possible input/output configurations.
B.3.1 Configuration 1
Serial data is received by the CR10X. No data or preamble is output; the CTS line
is not used. Parameter 6 must be zero and parameter 8 must be greater than zero.
Parameter 4 specifies the control port used for the RTS/DTR line, while the next
port connects to the Serial Input line. Two control ports are used per repetition.
B.3.2 Configuration 2
Serial data is output from the CR10X without using the CTS line. There is no
input. Parameters 3 and 6 must be greater than zero and parameter 8 must be zero.
Parameter 4 specifies the control port used for the DTR/RTS line; the next port
connects to the Serial Output line. Two control ports are used per repetition.
B.3.3 Configuration 3
Serial data is output from the CR10X with the aid of the CTS line. There is no
input. Parameters 3 and 8 must be zero and parameter 6 must be greater than zero.
Parameter 4 specifies the control port used for the RTS/DTR line; the CTS and
Serial Output are the next two consecutive ports, respectively. Three control ports
are used per repetition.
B.3.4 Configuration 4
Serial data is output and received by the CR10X. The CTS line is not used.
