Maintaining the Calix Outdoor
Cabinet
Battery Maintenance
At a minimum follow the battery manufacturers recommended maintenance. Additionally
Calix recommends that all batteries be removed from the cabinet, tested and maintained
at least once a year. Perform the following task:
•
Visually inspect each battery for physical damage, leakage, or bulging. Replace any
battery displaying any defect before the batteries are placed back in service.
•
Load Test each battery to verify that ample current is available to maintain the
system.
•
Ensure that each battery is providing 13.5 VDC +/-.2 VDC
•
Clean the batteries so there is no dust dirt or corrosion present on the battery
surface.
•
Clean and visually inspect the area for any signs of damage. Damage to painted
areas should be fixed by removing all rust and dirt from the affected area then
apply touch-up paint to the area to prevent future corrosion.
•
Before reconnecting the batteries, ensure that there is an oxide inhibiting grease
applied to all terminals.
