3.7 Grounding the 2364 ONT
To run the ground wire, use the following steps:
1. Terminate a #6 solid copper ground wire into the grounding lug. If you are installing the 2364 ONT electronics panel
without the outer enclosure, refer to Figure 3-6 for the location of the grounding lug. If you are installing the outer ONT
enclosure refer to Figure 3-7 for the location of the grounding lug.
SAFETY INFORMATION
Local building and national electrical codes (NEC) require the ONT must be grounded to the premise
grounding electrode system. Improper installation of the ONT may result in serious damage to the equip-
ment or building, or result in serious personal injury or death. Calix strongly recommends, for your own
safety, that you follow the guidelines outlined in the NEC code as well as the following safety recommen-
dations:
• ONT installation and configuration should NOT be performed during hazardous environmental conditions
• ONT installation should only be performed after complete and thorough review of the Calix 2364 ONT

• It is highly recommended that the installer familiarize themselves with the Calix ONT Installation Best
Practices Guidelines
• It is highly recommended that the installer familiarize themselves with the NEC code adopted by their
state's building commission including any addendums or modifications made by the local state building
commission. The NEC code is maintained by the National Fire Protection Association (www.nfpa.org) and
may be purchased or viewed online for free. A specific state by state listing of code adoption and state
requirements links can be found at the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (www.iaei.org).
• The installer should pay particular attention to the following articles and sections of the NEC:
