DIAGNOSTICS
Worn or non-firing spark plugs
Check to see if the connectors of the
ignition system are connected cor-
rectly.
Correct
Check the battery voltage between
the incoming lead (B/R and B) on the
ECM CPU with ignition switch turned
to the “ON” position.
Correct
Test the peak voltage of the primary
winding of the ignition coil.
This method of testing is only possi-
ble utilising a multi-tester and a peak
voltage adaptor.
Incorrect
Check the ignition coil.

Incorrect
• Poor or defective coupling connection.
• Defective ignition switch
• Wiring interrupted or poor or defective con-
nection of the appropriate circuit coupling.
Check the spark plugs.
• Defective ignition coil.
• Defective crankshaft position sen-
sor.
• Defective ECM CPU.
• Poor or defective connection
of the ignition couplings.
* Check that the gearchange is in neutral and the engine
kill switch is in the “RUN” position. Check to see if the
fuse is blown and the battery is completely charged be-
fore carrying out diagnostic operations.
Correct
Incorrect
• Poor or defective con-
nection of the spark plug
insulated cover.
• Defective spark plug.
Test the peak voltage of the crank-
shaft position sensor and the resist-
ance.
The peak voltage test of the crank-
shaft position sensor can only be
carried out with a multi-tester and a
peak voltage adaptor.
