After an accident
!
WARNING
Risk of accident and injury!
Damaged components can suddenly break or otherwise fail, and
damaged components of the e-bike system can pose far-reaching
risks.
» Do not use your e-bike if is damaged or if you suspect damage.
» Have your e-bike checked by your dealer after falls or accidents.
» Have damaged components replaced with suitable original parts.
» Never try to straighten bent parts yourself.
» If parts of the e-bike system are visibly damaged (cable, motor,
battery), there is a risk of electric shock.
Bosch e-bike system:
In this case, remove the battery immediately and contact your
Bosch dealer.
MAHLE ebikemotion system:
Contact your MAHLE specialist dealer.
Accidents and falls can cause damage to the e-bike that is not visible at
first glance, e.g. hairline cracks.
• Have your specialist dealer repair your e-bike.
• If it cannot be excluded with certainty that damage has occurred, the
parts in question must be replaced with suitable original parts by your
dealer.
• The notices
⇨ chap. 44 “Notes on components made of aluminium,
carbon or composite materials” on page 157
absolutely must be
observed.

Noise development
NOTE
Risk of damage!
If unusual noises on your e-bike cannot be located or eliminated,
damage and increased material wear and tear may result.
» Have your specialist dealer check your e-bike.
Rattling
If the cause of rattling noises cannot be located, check the following
components for loose screw connections:
• Kickstand
• Valve nuts of the bicycle tubes
• Mudguards
• Luggage rack
Tighten loose screw connections with the corresponding torque
⇨ section “Tightening torques” page 177
.
Cracking
Cracking noises can occur if the contact surfaces of screwed components
are not provided with sufficient assembly paste. Always use assembly
paste for the following connections:
• Handlebars – stem
• Seat post – frame
• Saddle struts – saddle clamp
• Pedals – crank arms
• Frame opening – intermediate piece
• Quick-release axle front wheel – wheel hub front wheel
If you hear cracking noises on the drive, contact your specialist dealer to
rectify the problem.
Grinding
Grinding noises occur when a moving part of the e-bike rubs against an
immovable part, or a foreign object is in the drive or between the tyre
and mudguard.
Check your e-bike for the following issues:
• Does a brake disc rub against the brake pads so hard that the wheel is
slowed down?
• Does the belt or the front belt pulley grind on the motor cover?
• Are parts of the mudguards touching the tyre?
If any of this is true, contact your specialist dealer to solve the problem.

Battery
The service life of the battery is largely determined by the intensity of use,
as well as by the usage and storage temperatures.
For use, the following applies:
• The battery should be at room temperature (15-25 °C) before charging
and before a ride.
• Frequent use of high assistance levels reduces battery life
For prolonged storage, the following applies:
• Dry environment
• Temperature: 0 – 20 °C
• Charge status: 30 – 60%
Charging and use at a low battery temperature, storage at over 30 °C,
parking the e-bike in the blazing sun and prolonged storage with a full or
empty battery will shorten the battery life.
You can have the remaining capacity of your battery checked
by a Bosch or MAHLE specialist dealer.
When replacing a defective or worn Bosch battery, the
painted battery cover can still be used.
