CALCULATING YOUR HOLDOVER
First, learn the drop of your specific bullet at various distances. While ideally this can be done at the range,
you can also do this by looking at the appropriate ballistic tables on the ammunition manufacturer’s web
site, catalog or reloading manual. For example, if you are shooting a .300 Winchester Magnum with a
180 grain bullet, you might get ballistics similar to the following:

To select the appropriate line to use at the various distances holdover, just divide the bullet drop by the
inches per line to determine the appropriate line to use at your various distances. For close range, simply
use the center line.
