10 Chapter 1. Getting Started
Routing the Battery Cable (GSM Only)
The SDT16-GSM incluces a digital cellular radio. It can experience transmission failures when the
battery cable routes across the top of the controller board and digital radio. To prevent the battery
voltage from interfering with radio transmission signals, route the battery cable in the following
manner. Also refer to the next figure for an example.
1.
Route the battery cable along the top of the battery and toward the antenna bracket.
2.
Continue routing the battery cable through the opening between the controller board and
antenna bracket. The battery cable should be positioned on the side of the controller board
near the battery connector.
3.
Install the battery bracket to secure the battery and battery cable in place. The battery cable
should rest on top of the battery and under the battery bracket.
4.
Leave the battery disconnected until you have completed the installation.

Connecting and Disconnecting the Battery Cable
If you need to disconnect or replace the sealed lead acid or lithium battery installed in the Bullhorn
unit, disconnect the configuration cable first and then the battery cable.
When connecting the battery, connect the battery first and then connect the configuration cable.
