Instructions for optimal igniton and operation
Step 1:
Open the combustion chamber door and insert two
logs of wood (each
25-
33 cm long/max.
20
00 g)
alongside
into the combustion chamber (cut edge upward).
Step 2:
Stack up to a kilo of commercially available kindle
wood (3–5 layers) evenly on the already loaded wood logs.
Step 3:
Now place 2–3 pieces ingnition aid on the kindle
wood and ignite these. Please close the wood stove door and
completely open the air supply control (as per 2.
1
.
1).
While the kindle wood burns, ember falls between the inlaid
wood logs, which as a consequence start to burn. This
process may, depending on the draught conditions of your
chimney and the specifics of the wood, take up to 35 minutes.
An emberbed thereby slowly forms.
The combustion chamber door should not be opened during
this period, so that the wood stove can reach its optimal
operating temperature as quickly as possible.
Please note that in the heating-up phase soot and possibly
condensate may sediment on the viewing window of the
stove. This soiling can not be ruled out completely when
burning natural solid fuels and does not constitute a defect.
Once this process has been completed and only a small flame
pattern is still visible, the wood stove has reached a sufficient
operating temperature. Now it can burn the appropriate
amount and quality of wood (see table above) most efficiently.
Step 4:
First, carefully open the door for just one centimeter
and wait until the fire has adapted to the new draught
situation (2–3 seconds). You can now slowly open the door
and insert an appropriate
additional amount of wood
corresponding to the desired performance (see 2.1.1).
The air supply to the wood stove should now be reduced
according to point 2.
1.1
of this manual.
Also now, the soot that has possibly formed on the viewing
window during the heating-up phase will, to a large extent,
be burned clean.
Please note that the ignition of the additionally laid logs
always takes some time (3–4 minutes), since the wood first
has to reach a certain temperature.
Important:
The over-feed with wood does not lead to a con
-siderably increased heat transfer to the installation room;
rather the excess energy is discharged into the chimney and
air pollution is significantly higher.
Important:
Do not use flammable liquids such as alcohol or
petrol to light the fire.
Normal heating operation:
While the wood burns in the
combustion chamber, the door must not be opened. This is
to prevent smoke from escaping into the installation room.
Wait until the flames have burned down before inserting
additional firewood.
Important:
Never use treated or plastic-coated wood, chip-
board, sawdust, wood chips, coal, coke, paper, cardboard or
similar materials. The use of such materials leads to a very
high degree of environmental pollution and can cause
sustainable damage to the Bullerjan

Combustion air regulation
The combustion chamber of the B
4
is supplied with
combustion air via a central, adjustable air supply outlet at
the bottom of the combustion chamber, inside the wood box,
which supplies the combustion chamber with combustion air.
This air is then supplied to the fire through the openings on
the back wall of the stove and through the intergrated window
washing system.
The window washing systems efficiently delays the soiling
of the viewing glass.
In order to adjust the supply of combustion air to the
combustion chamber in accordance with the respective
operating situation, please handle the air supply regulator
provided for this purpose. This is located centrally under the
door of the stove and has two different markings, with
which you can make the exact setting according to the
following three phases of operation.
