Residual risks
The device has been developed and manufactured using the latest technological ad-
vances. Nevertheless, risks to persons, property or the environment can arise if the
device is used incorrectly.
Appropriate warnings in this manual serve to alert the user to these residual dangers.
2.6.1
Hot surfaces
The surfaces of the device can become very hot. If touched they can cause skin
burns.

Do not touch hot surfaces or else wear suitable protective gloves.
2.6.2
Empty beakers on heating plates
Empty beakers on active heating plates lead to very hot surfaces and can damage
the instrument and the beakers.

Remove empty beakers from the instrument.
u
Deactivate heating positions not used.
u
Use optimized extraction parameters, drying parameters and solvent amounts
(e.g. from BUCHIs technical and application notes).
2.6.3
Mechanical damages
If a device is damaged, sharp edges, moving parts or exposed electrical wires can
cause injuries.
u
Check device regularly for visible damage.
u
Make sure that the locking mechanism of the protection shield is working properly.
u
If faults occur:
Switch off the device immediately.
Unplug the power cord.
Inform the operator.
Cool the device before taking any further action.
