Installation and Operation of the
DCS 350 and DHS 1100
Chambers
8.1
Introduction
The DHS 1100 and DCS 350 (Domed Hot Stage and Domed Cooling Stage) chambers
are designed for heating and/or cooling samples that have to be mounted on four-circle
goniometers or on XYZ-stages.
• The DHS 1100 operates within the temperature range between room temperature and
1100 °C.
• The DCS 350 operates between room temperature and 350 °C in air or inert gas and
between ‑100 °C and 350 °C in vacuum.

Mounting the Chamber to the Goniometer
u
It is assumed that the diffractometer is aligned before mounting the chamber.
1. Set detector and source to a large 2θ to prevent them from restricting installation.
2. Switch off mains supply.
3. Feed all necessary cables and cooling water supply through the labyrinth for
connecting them to the temperature chamber from the front of the goniometer.
4. Screw the adapter plate delivered with the stage onto the sample stage onto which
you wish to install the DCS or DHS.
5. Subsequently, mount the stage onto the adapter plate using the screws indicated by
the white arrows in figure below (DCS 350 on centric Eulerian cradle, same mounting
concept on all other stages) and (DHS 1100, use the 10 mm thick adapter plate on
centric Eulerian cradle, same mounting concept on all other stages).
