Before beginning assembly, refer to

CLEANING

AND INSPECTION

Pinion Bearing

Assemble tools from Universal Pinion Bearing
Remover and Installer kits, P/N 5005927 and
P/N 5005928, as shown:

Place bearing on installation tool with lettered side
of bearing facing tool. Use

Needle Bearing

grease

to hold bearing on tool.

Drive the bearing down into position by gently
striking the installer shaft until the washer contacts
the spacer.

Forward Gear

Apply gear oil to the forward gear. Place the for-
ward gear bearing and back-up shim in position
and install the gear in the gearcase.
