Installing the TurboIron 24X
Installing the device
Installation location
Before installing the device, plan its location and orientation relative to other devices and equipment. Allow at least 3 in. of space at the
front of the device for the twisted-pair, fiber-optic, and power cabling. Also, allow a minimum of 3 in. of space between the sides and the
back of the device and walls or other obstructions.
Installing the device
You can install Brocade TurboIron devices on a desktop or in an equipment rack.
Make sure the rack or cabinet housing the device is adequately secured to prevent it from becoming
unstable or falling over.
Mount devices in a rack or cabinet as low as possible. Place the heaviest device at the bottom and
progressively lighter devices above.
Desktop installation
Follow the steps for desktop installation.

Set the device on a flat desktop, table, or shelf. Make sure that adequate ventilation is provided for the system. A 3 in. clearance
is recommended on each side.

Rack mount installation
For rack mount installation, the
Brocade TurboIron 24X
supports the use of a two post Telco equipment rack.
A rack mount kit with short mounting brackets ships with the device.
In addition to the rack mount kit, you will need the following tools for installation:

#2 Phillips-head screwdriver
•
Four 12-24 screws to mount the
Brocade
device in the rack.
Make sure the rack or cabinet housing the device is adequately secured to prevent it from becoming
unstable or falling over.
