Verify Engine Oil Level and Add Fuel

NOTICE

Be sure you have attached wheels and support leg prior to this

step.

NOTICE

Before starting the engine, check oil level and ensure that

engine is serviced as described in the Operator’s Manual.

NOTICE

DO NOT use unapproved fuel such as E85.

NOTICE

DO NOT mix oil in fuel.

NOTICE

DO NOT modify engine to run on alternate fuels.

Move generator outdoors to a flat, level surface.

1.

The generator engine is shipped from the factory filled with oil.

2.

Before starting the engine, check oil level ( ).

4

Replace and fully tighten oil fill cap.

3.

Clean area around fuel fill cap (

4.

), remove cap.

5

Slowly add unleaded fuel (K) to fuel tank (L). Be careful not to overfill.

5.

Allow about 1.5” (4 cm) of tank space (M) for fuel expansion.

6

Replace fuel cap, and let any spilled fuel evaporate before starting

6.

engine.

Move Generator to

Safe Operating Location

Move generator outdoors to a flat, level surface, in an area that will

1.

not accumulate deadly exhaust gas. DO NOT place generator where

exhaust gas could accumulate and enter inside or be drawn into a

potentially occupied building. Ensure exhaust gas is kept away from

any windows, doors, ventilation intakes, or other openings that can

allow exhaust gas to collect in a confined area. Prevailing winds and

air currents should be taken into consideration when positioning

generator.

7

To reduce the risk of exhaust heat or exhaust gases igniting nearby

2.

combustible material, keep at least 5 feet (1.5 m) clearance on all

sides of generator, including overhead.

Start Generator

Make sure unit is on a level surface.  Disconnect all electrical loads

1.

from the generator.
Turn the fuel valve (N) to the “On” position. The fuel valve handle

2.

should be vertical (pointing toward the ground) for fuel to flow.

8

Move choke lever (P) to CHOKE position.

3.

9

Push engine rocker switch (Q) to ON position.

4.

10

Pull starter rope handle (R) slowly until resistance is felt. Then pull

5.

cord rapidly to overcome compression, prevent kickback, and start

engine.

10

Slowly move choke lever (P) to RUN position as engine warms.

6.

9

If engine does not start, refer to operator’s manual for detailed

7.

starting instructions.

Plug in Items to be Powered

WARNING

Damaged or overloaded electrical cords could overheat,

arc, and burn resulting in death, serious injury, and/or

property damage. ONLY use cords rated for your loads.
Follow all safeties on electrical cords. Inspect cord sets before

each use.

Let engine stabilize and warm up for a few minutes after starting.

1.

Ensure the circuit breaker (T) on the control panel is in the ON

2.

position.

11

Plug in and turn on the desired 120 Volt (U) and/or 240 Volt (V) AC,

3.

single phase, 60 Hz electrical loads.

11

NOTICE

When plugging into the 120 Volt (U) receptacles, plug items to

be powered in sequence as shown.

11

NOTICE

Exceeding generators wattage/amperage capacity can damage

generator and/or electrical devices connected to it.

Refer to

4.

Do Not Overload Generator

 section of Operator’s Manual.

Shut Down Generator

Turn OFF and unplug all electrical loads from generator panel

1.

receptacles. NEVER start or stop engine with electrical devices

plugged in and turned ON.
Let engine run at no-load for several minutes to stabilize internal

2.

temperatures of engine and generator.
Push engine rocker switch (Q) to OFF position.

3.

10

Move fuel valve (N) to OFF position.

4.

8

To prepare for storage, refer to Operator’s Manual.

5.

Unpack Generator

Set the carton on a rigid, flat surface.

1.

Remove everything from carton except generator.

2.

Open carton completely by cutting each corner from top to bottom.

3.

Ensure you have all included items prior to assembly.

4.

If items are damaged or missing, call 1-800-743-4115.
Leave generator on carton to install the wheels.

5.

Attach Wheels

NOTICE

Wheels and support leg must be attached prior to adding any

fuel.

Tip generator so that engine end is up.

1.

Slide axle (A) through both mounting brackets.

2.

1

Slide a wheel (B) over axle.

3.

1

NOTICE

Be sure to install wheel with raised hub inboard.

Place a washer (C) on axle (A) and then place an e-ring (D) in axle

4.

groove.

1

CAUTION

E-rings could cause eye injury.  E-rings could spring

back and become airborne when installing or removing,

resulting in moderate injury.  Always wear eye protection

when installing/removing e-rings.

Install e-ring with pliers, squeezing from top of e-ring to bottom of

5.

axle.

1

Repeat steps 3 through 5 to secure second wheel.

6.

Attach Support Leg

Tip generator so that engine side is down.

1.

Line up holes on support leg (E) with holes in generator frame.

2.

2

Attach support leg using 20 mm bolts (F) and flange nuts (G).

3.

Tighten with a 13 mm socket wrench and 13 mm wrench.

2

Return generator to normal operating position (resting on wheels

4.

and support leg).

Turn Handle

Remove handle (H) from generator frame by pushing in pins (J) and

1.

pulling up on handle.

3

Turn handle (H) around as shown and attach it to generator frame by

2.

pushing in pins (J) on generator frame. Slide handle down until pins

lock into holes on handle.
