Operation
Automatic Operation Sequence
Thegenerator’scontrolpanelhousesalogiccontrolcircuit
board.Thiscontrolboardconstantlymonitorsutilitypower
sourcevoltage.Shouldthatvoltagedropbelowapreset
level,controlboardactionwillsignaltheenginetocrankand
start.
Whenutilitysourcevoltageisrestoredaboveapreset
voltagelevel,theengineissignaledtoshutdown.
Theactualsystemoperationisnotadjustableandis
sequencedbysensorsandtimersonthecontrolboard,as
follows:
Utility Voltage Dropout Sensor
• Thissensormonitorsutilitysourcevoltage.
• Ifutilitysourcevoltagedropsbelowabout70percent
ofthenominalsupplyvoltage,thesensorenergizesa
10secondtimer.Thetimerisusedto‘sense’brown-
outs.
• Oncethetimerhasexpired,theenginewillcrankand
start.
Utility Voltage Pickup Sensor
Thissensormonitorsutilitypowersupplyvoltage.Whenthat
voltageisrestoredabove80percentofthenominalsource
voltage,atimedelaystartstimingandtheenginewillgoto
enginecool-down.
Engine Cool-down Timer
• Whentheloadistransferredbacktotheutilitypower
source,theenginecool-downtimerstartstiming.
• Thetimerwillrunforaboutoneminute,thenthe
generatorwillstop.
• Minimumengineruntimeis5minutes.
Setting Exercise Timer
Thehomegeneratorisequippedwithanexercisetimerthat
willstartandexercisethesystemonceeverysevendays.
Duringthisexerciseperiod,theunitrunsforapproximately
0minutesandthenshutsdown.Electricalloadtransfer
DOESNOToccurduringtheexercisecycle(unlessanutility
poweroutageoccurs).
Abuttononthecontrolpanelislabeled“SetExercise”(see
System Control Panel ).Thespecificdayandthespecific
timeofdaythisbuttonispressedisprogrammedintothe
controlboardmemory.Thisdateandtimeisthenusedto
automaticallyinitiatethesystemexercisecycle.The“SET
EXERCISE”legendonthecontrolpanelwillflashuntiltheset
exercisecycleisset.
ToperformtheSetExerciseprocedure:
1. Choosethedayandtimeyouwantyourhome
generatortoexercise.
. Onthatdayandtime,pressandholddownthe“Set
Exercise”buttonforthreeseconds.
NOTE :“SETEXERCISE”willflashuntilthebuttonispressed
forthreeseconds,then“SETEXERCISE”willilluminatefor
5seconds,andfinallyturnoff.
Forexample,ifyoupressthe“SetExercise”buttonon
Sundaymorningat10:00AM,theunitwillrunanexercise
cyclethefollowingSundayat10:00AM(+/-1/hour).
NOTE :“SetExercise”willonlyworkiftheunitisinthe
Automaticmodeandthisexactprocedureisfollowed.
Theexerciserwillneedtobere-setifthe15Ampfuse
isremovedorchanged,orifthe1VoltDCbatteryis
disconnected.
Ifyouwanttochangethedayandtimetheunitexercises,
simplyperformthe“SetExercise”procedureattheexact
weekdayandtimeyouwantittotakeplace.
Installation Inspection
Completethe”InstallationChecklist”asyoumakethe
inspection.Ensureallitemshavebeenfilled-inandall
signatureshavebeenobtained.Instructtheownertomail
