2.5 Maintenance Safety
•
Always disengage power, shut down the engine, remove the ignition key, being sure all
moving parts have stopped before attempting to maintain or service the unit.
•
Support the trailer with blocks or stands when changing tires or working beneath.
•
Follow good shop practices:
•
keep service areas clean and dry.
•
be sure electrical tools are properly grounded.
•
use adequate light for the job at hand.
•
use personal protective equipment. (ie. gloves, safety glasses, etc.)
•
Use only tools, jacks and hoists of sufficient capacity for the job.
2.6 Loading Safety
•
Do not drop the load on the trailer in order to prevent damaging the cargo or the trailer.
•
Place concentrated heavy loads over structural beams when loading.
•
Tie down securely before moving or transporting.
•
Check tie-downs frequently when transporting and keep them tight.
•
Do not exceed the load concentration and total load carrying specifications of the trailer.
•
Install lights or flags on the load if it extends beyond the deck.
•
Do not side load.
2.7 Safety Decals
•
Read and understand all decals before operating. Take care to follow all precautions and
warnings displayed on the decals.
•
Keep safety decals and signs clean and legible at all times.
•
Replace safety decals and signs that are missing or have become illegible.
•
Replaced parts that originally displayed a safety sign must also display the original sign.
•
Safety decals or signs are available from your authorized dealer.
