StepMetrix Calibration
— NOTE ——————————————————————
•
All the steps in the installation section must be
completed before proceeding to calibration.
•
The calibration can be performed from us er’s PC or
dealer’s PC whichever is convenient.
•
The StepMetrix sensor module must not be rocking.
•
Sides of the sensor module are defined as left a nd
right, as viewed from the si de (right or left) from which
the cows are entering the sensor module with respect
to the load cell conduit
2.5.1
Pre-Calibration Steps
Before performing the calibratio n procedure, the
following procedure must be completed.
•
A minimum of 450 l bs (204.11 kg) of weight is
required for the calib ration of the senso r module.
A lesser cali bration weight will severely hamper
the performance of the system.
•
BouMatic recommends using 5 g allon (19 L)
stackable buckets (width/diameter less than 12 ”
[305 mm]). Some of the recommended weights
are shown in Figure 28.
•
If weights different than the recommended ones
are used, width/diameter of the weight must not
be greater than 12” (305 mm). During calibration,
weight must not be tra nsferred from one side of
the sensor module to the other.
•
If recommended 5 gallon (19 L) buckets are used,
completely fill the buckets with water, weigh each
bucket using a utility scale, and record the weight
of each bu cket. Add up the total weight and
record for entry during the calibration program. If
5 gallon buckets (19 L) are used, you will need up
to 10 buckets.
•
A utility scal e must be used to find the actual
weight to av oid an error in calibratio n factors,
which will hamper the performance of the system.

StepMetrix Calibration Wizard
Perform the following steps when calibrating the
StepMetrix sensor module:
1. Select the calibration wizard in the user interface
software:
Setup
⇒
Wizards
⇒
Calibration
2. It will first ask yo u to identify the StepMetrix system to
be calibrated, if ther e is more than one StepMetrix
system on the farm. Select the system to be calibrated
and click ‘Start Calibration’. Click Next to proceed.
