Connecting to a computer

Applies to:

Companion 20 computer speakers

To connect your speakers to a computer, follow these steps:

Using the provided audio cable, insert one end of the 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) plug into the audio
output jack on the computer. This jack is green on most personal computer sound cards.
Otherwise, look for one of the following connections:

Line OUT

Headphone OUT

A headphone symbol

A circle with an arrow pointing out of it

Note: MacBook Air® users will need an adapter due to the computer's recessed headphone jack.

Insert the other 1/8-inch (3.5 mm ) plug into the Audio In jack on the back of the right speaker

Speaker placement

Applies to:

Companion 20 computer speakers

Positioning the Companion® 20 multimedia speaker system is fast and easy. The size and shape
of these speakers make it possible to position them directly next to your computer. To achieve
the best sound performance, please follow these guidelines:

Place the left and right speakers an equal distance from the center of your computer
screen. They should be 18 to 32 inches apart

Note: The left and right speakers are labeled on the back.

Avoid putting objects directly in front of the lower part of the speaker grilles. The
speaker driver is located in this area

Do not place the speakers behind your computer screen; this will block the sound
