12.4 Backing up remanent data
An additional UPS is required to back up remanent data for the controls
IndraMotion MLC VPB 40.4. When the 24 V supply voltage fails, the UPS signals
the control firmware to back up remanent data on the hard disk. These are
restored upon the next control startup.
No backup of remanent data is possible when pressing the “Reset”
button on the IndraControl VPB.
12.5 Hypervisor
The system solution IndraMotion MLC based on the hardware IndraControl VPB
combines the functionality of a Windows HMI PC with the one of a control.
Therefore, the Windows operating system and the VxWorks operating system of
the IndraMotion MLC control have to be parallely operated on the IndraControl
VPB hardware.
This task is performed by the integrated hypervisor. The hypervisor splits the
hardware resources and assigns them exclusively to the Windows or the control
operating system. Windows and running Windows application thus cannot
directly access the resources of the integrated control. This architecture ensures
