CLEANING
Discard all oil seals, gaskets, O-rings and sealing
rings.
Clean oil passages and make sure they are not
clogged.
Clean all metal components in a solvent.
Remove old Loctite from crankcase mating sur-
faces with gasket remover (P/N 295 000 110).
INSPECTION
Assembled Engine
The following checks can be performed with en-
gine in watercraft without overhauling engine.
Crankshaft Alignment at Center Main
Journal
Since it is an assembled crankshaft it can become
misaligned or deflected. Crankshaft can be twist-
ed on center main journal, changing timing of one
cylinder in relation with the other.

CAUTION
There is no woodruff key to position the coun-
terweights. An index mark must be traced to
retain the proper position of the counter-
weight.

CAUTION
Be careful not to spray cleaner on the paint-
ed surface of the engine. Never use a sharp
object to scrape away old sealant as score
marks incurred are detrimental to crankcase
sealing.
