SPRING PRELOAD

Adjustment
It is essential to set spring pre-
load of the rear suspension
to suit the load carried by the
motorcycle. Increase spring
preload when the motorcycle
is heavily loaded and reduce
spring preload accordingly
when the motorcycle is lightly
loaded.
Adjusting spring preload for
rear wheel
Removing seat (
Removing the toolkit.
WARNING
Spring preload setting and
spring-strut damping setting
not matched.
Impaired handling.
Adjust spring-strut damping
to suit spring preload.
If you want to increase spring
preload, use the tool from the
toolkit to turn adjuster knob

clockwise.
If you want to reduce spring
preload, use the tool from the
toolkit to turn adjuster knob
1
anticlockwise.
Basic setting of spring
preload, rear
Turn the adjuster knob
counter-clockwise as far as
it will go. (One-up without
luggage)
Turn the adjuster knob
counter-clockwise as far as
it will go, then back it off
20 turns in the clockwise
direction. (One-up with
luggage)
Turn the adjuster knob
clockwise as far as it will go.
(Two-up with luggage)
Stow the on-board toolkit in
its correct position.
