Connecting electrical
appliances
In your BMW, when the engine is running or the
ignition is on, you can use electrical devices
such as a hand lamp, car vacuum cleaner, etc.,
up to approx. 200 Watts at 12 Volts if at least
one of the following sockets is provided. Make
sure that the socket is not damaged by attempt-
ing to insert plugs of the wrong pattern.
Cigarette lighter socket*
To gain access to the power socket:
Open the ashtray towards the front; before
using, take the cigarette lighter out of the
socket.
In the luggage area*
To gain access to the power socket:
Open the cap.
In the centre console
Access to socket, see External devices on
page
Folding rear-seat backrests
Check that the centre head restraint is
folded down before you fold down the
rear-seat backrests, as otherwise the head
restraint and the centre console could be dam-
aged.
<
1.
Press the button in the recess, see arrow.
2.
Pull the rear-seat backrest forward.
Make sure that the latch engages when
you return the seat backrest to the
upright position. The red warning zone moves
down and disappears. If the rear-seat backrests
are not correctly latched, sudden braking or
avoiding action could suffice to throw luggage
into the passenger compartment and endanger
the car's occupants.
<
Make sure that no sharp objects strike the lug-
gage area partition from below.
Storage compartments in the
luggage area
Depending on your vehicle's equipment ver-
sion, there are the following storage options in
the luggage area:
>
Hooks, see arrows, close to the support for
the luggage area cover, for instance for
shopping bags or carrier bags
>
Rubber strap
*
on the trim panel on the left
for securing small objects such as a folding
umbrella
>
Net
*
for small objects on the right-hand
trim panel of the luggage area
