110 ADJUSTMENT
Measure distance D between
number plate carrier 1 and
axle 2 .
Remove the engine lifter.
Make sure the ground is level
and firm and place the motor-
cycle on its stand.
Subject the motorcycle to
load with a rider, and possibly
with luggage.
With the assistance of a
second person, measure
the distance D between
the points 1 and 2 again
and calculate the difference
(compression) between the
measured values.

To reduce compression (in-
crease of spring preload), turn
screw 1 using toolkit in the
direction A .
To increase compression (re-
duction of spring preload),
turn screw 1 using toolkit in
the direction B .
DAMPING
Adjustment
Damping must be adapted to
suit the condition of the sur-
face on which the motorcycle
is ridden and to suit spring pre-
load.
An uneven surface requires
softer damping than a smooth
surface.
An increase in spring preload
requires firmer damping, a
reduction in spring preload
requires softer damping.
