ENGINE OIL
Checking the engine oil level
ATTENTION
Misinterpretation of the oil
filling quantity, as the oil
level is temperature-depen-
dent (the higher the tem-
perature, the higher the oil
level)
Engine damage
Only check the oil level after
a longer journey or when
the engine is warm.
Make sure the ground is level
and firm and hold the vehicle,
which is at the operating tem-
perature, upright.
Allow engine to run in neutral
for one minute.
Switch off the ignition.
Wait five minutes to allow oil
to drain into the oil pan.
To minimize environmen-
tal impact, BMW Motorrad
recommends occasionally
checking the engine oil
following a ride of at least
30 miles (50 km).
ATTENTION
Lateral tipping of the vehicle
Component damage cause by
tipping over
Secure the vehicle from tip-
ping over laterally, preferably
with the support of a sec-
ond person.
Read oil level on the display 1 .
