Threaded fasteners not
tightened to the specified
torque can work loose or their
threads can suffer damage.
Always have the tightening
torques checked by a specialized
workshop, preferably an
authorized BMW Motorrad
retailer.
Install spacing sleeve

The front wheel must be
installed right way round to
rotate in the correct direction.
Observe the direction of rota-
tion arrows on the tires or on the
rim.
Roll front wheel into forks.
Insert axis

Tighten axle screw

to the
specified torque; if necessary
use a screwdriver to counter-
hold at the other side.

Thread-locking compound:
Optimoly TA
37 lb/ft (50 Nm)
Remove front wheel stand.
Without actuating brake: firmly
compress spring forks several
times.
Tighten the left-hand axle
clamping screws

with
specified torque.
Pinch bolt of axle holder
Tightening sequence: 2x
each side, alternately
6 lb/ft (8 Nm)
