Chapter 4: Next Steps
After you have completed the first-time configuration of the SG810 and have
logged in, you should do the following:
• Upgrade the SG810 software by downloading the latest patch release
(available at
http://download.bluecoat.com ).
• Fully configure the appliance.
To configure the SG810, you will need to download the Blue Coat ProxySG
Configuration and Management Guide , (the CMG) available on the Blue Coat
Web site at http://www.bluecoat.com/support/manuals
You must have aWebPower account to access the documentation. If you do
yet have an account, go to: https://services.bluecoat.com/
You can also find tech briefs (technical briefs) on the Blue Coat Web site.
If you log on to the SG810 using a Web browser, you can access the online
help by clicking the
Help
button on the Management Console screens. The
Management Console is the graphical user interface for the SG810. See Section
E: “Logging in to the SG810 on page 53 for more information.
• Activate the SG810 license. You must have a Blue Coat WebPower account.
Note: If you have new SG810 hardware that previously has been registered, the
license is already associated with the hardware. Go to
Maintenance >
Licensing > Install
and click
Retrieve
to obtain the license.
If you have older hardware that previously has been registered or if the
SG810 does not have Internet access, you can install the software license
under
Maintenance > Licensing > Install
.
To activate the SG810 license:
1. Open a Web browser.
2. Disable the browser’s pop-up blocker.
3. Enter the IP address you assigned to this appliance during initial setup:
https://ip_address:8082
4. Enter the access credentials, as specified during initial setup.
5. Click
Management Console.
The license warning/registration screen displays.
