General operation

See “Traffic safety and precautions” on page 36.

“Press”

means a momentary press of less than 1/2 second. All presses requiring more than

1/2 second are followed by a beep.

“Time Out”

When additional button presses are anticipated to complete a procedure, the unit will

automatically exit the procedure after 4 seconds of inactivity.

Ignition on
The unit lights up and the clock is displayed, provided it has been set before. Otherwise, “12:00”
appears. How to set the clock is described under “Setting the clock”.

Power on
When the ignition is on, press ON or insert a tape to turn the unit on. The last-used source
becomes active, unless the unit is turned on by inserting a cassette, in which case the cassette
player becomes active.

Setting the clock
Turn the unit on. Press and hold the CLK button until the clock starts blinking. Once the clock
starts blinking, press the   button to set the hour, and press the   button to set the minutes.
Press the CLK button again to activate the clock.

Audio source
Use SRC to select the disired audio source. AM, FM1, FM2, FMT, cassette (if already inserted)
and CD changer (if connected) will be activated one after the other.

Changing the information displayed
You can temporarily change the information shown in your unit’s display. You can also select
which information has “display priority” and is shown in the display. When pressing a button, the
display will always switch to the selected mode.

To change the display priority, press the DISP button for two seconds. The display priority
changes. The display priority choices are radio frequency, “TAPE 1” or “TAPE 2”, track or
CD number (when optional CD changer is connected) and the clock.

To change the display temporarily, press and release the DISP button to access the desired
information. After four seconds, the display changes back to the priority information.

Power off
Press ON for more than 1/2 second to turn the unit off.

Release for detachable faceplate
Push REL to detach the face. A cassette already inserted remains in the unit. The current
settings and the source mode are stored. If power was not switched off before you removed the
face, the unit will automatically power-on when the face is reattached.
