Getting to know your handheld
This chapter will help you get acquainted with your handheld.
Using the keyboard and trackwheel
Your handheld’s keyboard provides access to all of the standard alphabetic
characters. The keyboard also features nine special keys:
DEL
(delete),
BACKSPACE
,
ENTER
,
SPACE
, two
SHIFT
keys,
ALT
,
ESC
(escape), and a silver key. Numbers, a
symbols library, punctuation marks, and special characters can be generated using
ALT
in combination with the alphabetic keys. The trackwheel helps you navigate,
view, and select items on each screen. To scroll through menu items or text, roll the
trackwheel. To select functions and menu options, click (press down on) the
trackwheel.
The following chart describes special keyboard and trackwheel combinations that
will help you navigate functions, enter text, and configure options on your
handheld.

Turning on/off the power, activating backlighting

Press the silver key once to turn on the handheld.

When your handheld is on, press the silver key once to
activate backlighting. Press it again to turn off
backlighting. Backlighting will turn off automatically if
you do not press any keys or roll the trackwheel for ten
seconds.
•
Press and hold the silver key to turn off the handheld.
