CHAPTER 8: Command Reference Guide
Third-Party Disconnection (/D)
When two ports are connected, the /D command can be invoked at a third
port with “All” command capability in order to disconnect them. Note that
the /D command cannot be used to disconnect your resident port. To
disconnect your resident port, issue the Logoff Sequence (default =
“[Enter]+++[Enter]”) or wait for the Timeout Period to elapse (if Timeout
Disconnection is enabled). Also be aware that you only need to specify one of
the two connected ports to break the connection and free up both ports.
Command Availability:
All (Administrator)
Command Format:
/D[/Y]
n [m ...]
[Enter]
where:
/Y

or is an asterisk if you want to disconnect all currently
connected ports; and

Verbose: “SURE? (Y/N)”; if you then enter “Y,” the Switch will respond
with “PORT DISCONNECT.”

Examples:
• To disconnect Port 2 from Port 3, send either “/D 2 [Enter]” or “/D 3
[Enter]” from a device on a third port with “All” command capability.
• To disconnect Port 2 from Port 3 without having to deal with the “SURE?
(Y/N)” prompt, send either “/D/Y 2 [Enter]” or “/D/Y 3 [Enter]” from a
device on a third port with “All” command capability.
• To disconnect a group of ports with similar names, send “/D [shared
characters] [Enter]” from a device on a third port with “All” command
capability. If the three ports you wanted to disconnect were “PC1,” “PC2,”
and “PC3,” you would send “/D PC [Enter]”.
• To disconnect all ports, send “/D * [Enter]” from a device on a port with
“All” command capability.
