PORT MANAGER SWITCHES

Connect   (/C)

Establishes a bidirectional connection between two ports. There are two
different types of PM Switch port connections:

• Resident Connection:  If the /C command specifies one port name or

number, the PM Switch will connect your resident port with the specified
port. If the command specifies a name associated with a hunt group (see

Section 6.2

), the PM Switch will connect your resident port to the first

available port in that group.

• Third-Party Connection:  If the /C command specifies two port numbers

or names, the PM Switch will connect the two ports indicated by the
command. Note that a Third-Party Connection command must be issued
from a third port which has been granted access to “All”
PM Switch commands. Ports which have been configured for “Basic”
command capability cannot perform a Third-Party Connection.

Command Availability:

All (Administrator) / Basic (User)

Command Format:

/C

m n

[Enter]

where

m

and

n

are the numbers or names of the ports to be connected.

PM Switch Response:

Verbose:  “PORT CONNECT”
Terse:  “1”

Examples:

• Resident Connection:  To connect your resident port to Port 16, access

the PM Switch Command Mode and type “/C 16  [Enter]”.

• Third-Party Connection:  To connect Port 12 to Port 14, access the

PM Switch Command Mode from a third port with “All” command
capability and type “/C 12 14  [Enter]”.
