Media Converters
Standalone/Chassis Based
1000Mbps
For special environments, you need special equipment. Black Box
presents Industrial Gigabit Media Converters for temperatures from
-35 to +70
O
C that are DIN rail mountable and powerable by 7 to 50
VDC. Office temperature rated AC power supplies are included with
product. DIN rail power supplies for industry-rated temperatures are
also available.
Copper to fibre converter
There is a converter available for fibre technologies. There are
multimode and single-mode, standard Duplex and Simplex (WDM)
models available. The copper port is always 10/100/1000, enabling
you to connect even legacy 10-Mbps equipment.
SFP to SFP
For projects where you need different media types, LGC300A is
your solution. You can use one of our SFP Modules in each of its SFP
slots. LBG200C are office-temperature-rated, while LBG200CP are
industry-rated.
With the appropriate SFP modules, you can convert from
multimode to single-mode, from Duplex to Simplex (WDM) fibre or
from copper to fibre again. Using copper SFPs will give you
1000BASE-T to fibre conversion.
Looking for 100-Mbps fibre converters? See pages 16-23.
LGE320A
The number of Ethernet switches and
fibre optic segments being added to
Ethernet networks keeps increasing. And
as long as most Ethernet switches are only
available with 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and
1000 Mbps interfaces, media converters
will remain in demand.
Until now, a failure on the network
could go unnoticed. Once a failure was
detected, it could take a long time to
isolate it, especially if a technician had to
be sent to the site. But media converters
with SNMP eliminate some of the
guesswork.
With SNMP management, the IS
manager can detect a failure, isolate it to a
specific port, and determine what
hardware is required to repair it. A
technician can then be sent directly to the
right place to fix faulty hardware or repair
a broken cable.
SNMP management enables you to set
up alarms or traps when a link is down.
You can turn features on and off from a
central terminal, so there’s no need to
leave your desk. You can also monitor
power supplies and replace them without
interrupting service. SNMP management
reduces the time and money it takes to get
your network up and running again. Not
only that, the users on your network will
notice — and appreciate — the improved
service and reliability.

Why media converters need SNMP.
