9. Using the Google Calendar Connector
This section covers advanced topics related to the use of the Google
®
Calendar Connector.
9.1 Connecting to a Google Calendar
This page describes how to use a iCompel Data Engine (iDE) to access and display calendar information retrieved
from Google
®
calendar.
Prerequisites
The following prerequisites must be satisfied before proceeding:
The user credentials for a Google
®
Calendar account. These are only required to determine settings for the
iDE.
The Calendar must be made public. Please refer to the Google
®
documentation to determine how to make
your Calendar public.
Determine the unique Google Calendar URL
1. Open the Google
®
Calendar page in a web browser.
2. Click the '
Settings
' menu (top right) then select '
Calendar settings
'. Menu can be found in the top right
of the page.
3. Select '
Calendars
' tab page.
4. From the '
My Calendars - Calendars
' section, click the underlined Calendar name link. This will show the
Calendar details for the specified calendar.
5. In the
Private Address
field (bottom of page), click the
XML
button.
6. A popup will show displaying a web address. Click on this address, which should then open the link in a
new browser window.
7. Select the full address in the browser address entry, and copy to clipboard.
Note : This address can be used by any user to view the contents of the specified calendar!
