with each other or to parts of the system when it has been determined by
qualified biomedical engineering personnel that there is no danger to the
animal, the operator, or the environment as a result. In those instances
where there is any element of doubt concerning the safety of connected
devices, the user must contact the manufacturers concerned (or other
informed experts) for proper use. In all cases, safe and proper operation
should be verified with the applicable
Manufacturer’s instructions for use and system
standards IEC 60601-1-1/EN
60601-1-1 must be complied with.
Electro surgery Unit
✓
Electrosurgical unit (ESU) emits a lot of RF interference. If the monitor is
used with an ESU, RF interference may affect the monitor operation.
✓
Locate the monitor as far as possible from the ESU. Locate them on
opposite sides of the operating table, if possible.
✓
Connect the monitor and ESU to different AC outlets located as far as
possible from each other.
✓
When using this monitor with an electrosurgical unit, its return plate and
the electrodes for monitoring must be firmly attached to the animal. If
the return plate is not attached correctly, it may burn the animal
’
s skin
where the electrodes are attached.
Animal Preparation
Careful skin preparation and proper electrode placement allow you to receive a strong signal. If a
technical alarm (e.g., lead disconnect) has occurred, prepare the animal again according to the
following recommendations.
Follow hospital approved clinical procedures to prepare the
animal’s
skin. Change the electrode
every 24 to 48 hours to improve signal quality. You may need to replace the electrode more often
in the following situations:
