9. GLOSSARY

Up-down:

function that allows an automatic device to be activated in

order to mechanically isolate the scale plate - product system when this
is in the weighing position for the time that weighing lasts (static), thus
enabling it to weigh products that are longer than the scale belt.

Autozero:

automatic periodic scale resetting system. It can only be

enabled during an automatic weighing phase. At preset intervals and
only when the scale plate is unloaded, the scale is automatically reset,
guaranteeing that it will not be automatically loaded with a weight during
the resetting procedure. The autozero controlling logic is described in
the domain rules.

Resetting:

process by which the weight indication is brought to zero,

annulling the load bearing on the cell within preset limits.

Barcode:

data structure formed by fixed and variable fields pertaining to

the process whereby these data appear on the label. Each barcode must
therefore indicate the data of the process for which it is created.

BcRead:

indicates the format of a barcode that the system can read

during the process (by means of a scanner), so as to modify a sub-group
of data pertaining to the current process in the automatic mode.
Each BcRead must be described by the sequence of the fields it
contains, univocally identified within the sequence of characters of the
barcode itself.

Scale:

component that processes the data from the load cell and that

provides the weighing functionality (obtainment of a gross weight value
and calculation of the relative entities deriving from it).
It also memorizes information that represent the calibration data and that
are the result of calibration processes.

Baid:

sheath wound around conductor cables in order to protect them

against electrical or magnetic interference.

Calibration (1) (also sizing):

process by which a link is established

between the intensity of the load cell's output signal and the weight
bearing on the load cell itself.
Calibration may be:
