If you have a fixed IP address
, proceed as follows:
1.
After entering the IP address and the corresponding network mask, in the
Default gateway
section, also indicate
the router’s IP address.
2.
Then click on
OK
to validate the modifications.
Verification of the wireless connection
The
Ping
utility, included with Windows XP, allows you to verify that the PC’s network connection
is correct and that it can dialogue with remote Wireless devices using the TCP/IP protocol. Proceed
as follows:
1.
Click on
start
,
All Programs
, point to
Accessories
, then click on
Command prompt
.
2.
In the
Command prompt
window, enter “ping” followed by the IP address of the remote
Wireless device (Access Point, wireless router or other computer fitted with a Wireless
adapter/card), then press the
ENTER
key.
If your connection is correct and if the dialogue between the PC and the remote Wireless device has
been correctly established, you will obtain a response of the following type from the remote
Wireless device:
Response from 192.168.1.245: bytes=32
time<10ms
TTL=128
